Nicola Roux is a senior at Boston College pursuing a degree in Neuroscience with a minor in Medical Humanities. During her first and second years at BC, Nicola worked in the Language Learning Lab under Dr. Joshua Hartshorne investigating language acquisition in children. She also has experience working in Dr. John Christianson’s Lab, a behavioral neuroscience laboratory seeking to identify the neural mechanisms underlying the role of emotion in behavior and decision making. Outside of research, Nicola is involved in the Boston College Equestrian Team, is the co-president of the Boston College chapter of GlobeMed, and serves as a peer educator for the Bystander Intervention group, a program run through the BC Women’s Center devoted to educating BC students about consent and sexual assault prevention. At MGH, Nicola works to support the clinical research staff on several projects including the National Pregnancy Registry, the MGH Postpartum Psychosis Project, and the UPWARD study conducted jointly with the University of Colorado Boulder. After completing her undergraduate degree, Nicola plans to work in the clinical research or public health field before attending medical school.
