Ellen Sojka graduated summa cum laude from Colgate University in 2022 with a B.A. in Neuroscience and minors in Global Public & Environmental Health and Geography. She earned high honors for her undergraduate thesis investigating the effects of early development odor enrichment on anxiety, depression, and odor discrimination abilities in mice. Under the guidance of Dr. Zheng Li at the National Institute of Mental Health, she also analyzed dendritic spines in hippocampus CA1 throughout development to better understand the pattern of spine refinement in this region. At the CWMH, Ellen supports the National Pregnancy Registry and a neurosteroid intervention for menopausal depression. After her time at MGH, she hopes to pursue a doctorate in clinical neuropsychology.
