Zaira Garcia is a rising fifth-year at Northeastern University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience and a minor in Health Sciences. Through her experience working with Boston Medical Center Telehealth Epilepsy Care Collaborative (BMC TECC), her passion for public health and incorporating it into a future health career grew. At Harvard Medical School (HMS), she participated in neurobiological research focused on identifying the neuronal pathways and neurotransmitters related to memory and motivation, igniting her curiosity about how these neurotransmitters also underlie mental disorders. Additionally, she actively volunteers at Rosie’s Place, a multi-service community center offering women emergency shelter and meals. At MGH, Zaira is excited to have the opportunity to intersect all of these interests in her work assisting on the National Pregnancy Registry for Psychiatric Medications and writing for the blog. In the future, she plans to pursue an MPH, then medical school with the aspiration to specialize in perinatology.
