Peri- and post-menopausal women have various options for the management of hot flashes, including hormone replacement therapy, SSRIs, and gabapentin. It looks as if hypnosis may also be helpful. In a recent study, researchers randomly assigned postmenopausal women to hypnotherapy or “structured attention,” which was used as a control intervention.
According to a report published on ScienceDaily:
After 12 weeks, the women who underwent hypnosis reported 75% fewer hot flashes, compared with 13% fewer among the controls, and an 80% reduction in hot flash scores (a combination of frequency and severity), compared with 15% in controls. Skin conductance showed a 57% reduction in hot flashes for the women who underwent hypnosis, compared with 10% in the controls. The hypnosis participants also reported significantly less interference with their lives from hot flashes and better sleep than controls. Moreover, their level of satisfaction with the treatment was high.
These findings will be published in Menopause in March 2013.

Thanks for posting this article, my mother is experiencing menopause and she has been getting bad hot flashes, this information was very helpfull for her, she had never heard of hypnotherapy to improve it xx
Those are great results. Thank you for sharing them.
I have had similar experiences with a hypnotherapy client that was suffering from hot flashes. She reported that the hot flashes have been fewer in number and also less intense than before the hypnosis work.
The subconscious controls automatic body functions. So, when the subconscious is put back into a normal healing frequency, the body can experience some significant changes.
