Emma graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) with a dual degree consisting of a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, concentration in health diversity, and an M.P.H. with a concentration in health behavior & promotion. During her time at UIUC, she worked as a research assistant at the Reproductive Health and Toxicology Laboratory under the guidance of Dr. Romana Nowak. Her independent research project investigated maternal tamoxifen effects on mouse pregnancy and placental development. Emma was invited to present this research at the Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR) 57th Annual Meeting in Dublin, Ireland where she was awarded the SSR Trainee Travel Award, MPH Professional Development Travel Award, and the Bahr Travel Fund Award. She also served as the President of the Doctors Without Borders (MSF) UIUC Chapter and Healing Everything and Reaching the Soul (HEARTS), a pre-health volunteering and community service RSO, as well as the Treasurer of CodeRed, an RSO that works to address period poverty. Emma aspires to attend medical school after her time at MGH.
