According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, we have limited information regarding COVID-19 during pregnancy; however, in the absence of adequate information, we consider pregnant women to be an at-risk population for COVID-19 because they are more vulnerable to other types of respiratory infection, such as influenza.

In order to better understand the impact of COVID-19 on pregnancy and newborns, a multidisciplinary team of researchers at the University of California at San Francisco has created a national registry.  The Pregnancy Coronavirus Outcomes Registry (PRIORITY) is enrolling pregnant women and postpartum women who have delivered within the past 6 weeks and who have either a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis or are being evaluated for COVID-19.

Healthcare providers interested in more information about the registry may email  PRIORITYCOVID19@ucsf.edu.  In addition, a video describing the registry is available on Youtube.

Within a few weeks of its launch, several hundred women have enrolled in the registry.  The information gathered from this sort of registry is critical to improving the care of pregnant women and their children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Healthcare providers interested in referring a woman to the registry can do so HERE.

Women interested in enrolling in the PRIORITY registry can find out more and sign up HERE.
