Dear colleagues,

Over the past year, I have made reference to a documentary for which I served as Executive Producer with a terrific team of colleagues and individuals who were gifted documentary film producers. More Than Blue tells the story of postpartum psychiatric illness across America. This film brings together rigorous clinical expertise with the lived experiences of patients – illuminating the faces and voices of postpartum depression, anxiety, and psychosis in ways that are too often unseen or misunderstood.

We have now moved from “final cut” to a powerful catalyst for conversations across patients, providers, and communities across the globe during a recent impact campaign, in partnership with award-winning documentary distributor ROCO Films. We have already hosted more than 60 screenings to date across hospitals, health systems, universities, and community spaces – bringing this film to the audiences it was created for: mothers, families, clinicians, trainees, and those working to better understand maternal mental health. These documentary screenings have helped bring together the science and stories of maternal mental health- and to close persistent gaps in awareness, diagnosis, and access to care.

We are now entering the next chapter.

More Than Blue is now streaming globally across digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, YouTube TV, Google Play, and Vimeo On Demand – expanding its reach far beyond screenings into every home, every clinic, and every community worldwide.

I am particularly grateful for the partnership with Postpartum Support International (PSI)  over decades – whose commitment to lived experience of those suffering from maternal mental illness has been enduring and meaningful with a goal to support moms and families worldwide. I am most appreciative of the patients and their partners who were willing to tell their stories in More Than Blue. Our hope is simple: that by changing how we see and talk about maternal mental health, we will mitigate suffering, and help ensure every mother gets the care she needs to get well.

Best,

Lee
