After over a decade of working as a professional ballerina in several internationally known ballet companies, Victoria Canelos completed her B.S. in Anatomy and Integrated Physiology at the University of California, Los Angeles, during which she worked part time as a certified nursing assistant. She received her M.D from Boston University and is currently in her final year of residency training at the MGH/McLean Adult Psychiatry Residency Program. She has had several publications including a study looking at gender-specific experiences of serious mental illness in rural East Africa. Most recently, she contributed a chapter on mood disorders in pregnancy in a textbook of OSCEs for residents and trainees of Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Her current academic interests include OCD, mood, and psychotic disorders in women throughout the various stages of life.
