Abibatu Giwa-Osagie was born in Nigeria and raised in New York City. At Tufts University, she is pursuing a degree in Community Health. On campus, she is involved in the Community, Engagement, Advocacy & Policy Committee in MOTHERLab, a maternal healthcare research lab affiliated with Tufts Medical Center that works to study the disparities surrounding Black maternal health. She also was the screening chair of KDSAPs (Kidney Disease Screening Awareness Program). KDSAPs works to provide free screenings for chronic kidney disease to underserved communities. She is heavily involved in the Black Student Union and African Student Organization on campus. In the future, she hopes to pursue a master’s in nursing and become a nurse practitioner.
